The Democratery
The Democratery website (in Danish):
Background
Since 2008, the Main Library has focused especially on the library as a space for rendezvous, democracy and accessibility when developing. In 2008, the initial project process for The Democratery began.
We have collected information about what other libraries do at home and abroad and a network has been established with Frederikshavn, Vejle and Odsherred libraries. We will share ideas and experiences also in future.
These experiences will now be put to use in the Main Library and the various teams and groups in order to create activities and cooperation agreements within the area.
Project purpose
The Democratery will develop collaboration-driven innovation in the shape of new network and partnerships with users, key players and media in and around Aarhus.
The project focuses especially on innovative meeting types with a democratic perspective as well as developing activities and partnerships that support democracy with a view to realising all this in Mediaspace.
Additional information about the project
The Democratery is all about turning societal challenges into something real for citizens and to create physical and virtual forums in which citizens can help create the political agenda.
By participating in The Democratery’s network, whether citizens or library staff, players who work with activities that support democracy, debate and diversity can share their knowledge as well as look for collaboration partners or gain inspiration.
The project runs through 2012.
